workshops + classes
I teach different art classes, presentations and hands-on workshops. They can be adapted to fit the needs of an organization. Bellow, you will find a quick overview of the popular workshops.
Young @ Art
This workshop is intended to help children librarians and/or early childhood educators to understand children's art, art techniques and how to incorporate these in their respective environment while allowing creative process.. It is a hands-on day-long workshop. Participants will leave with a PDF file CD of lesson plans as well as a portfolio of the art they made during the workshop.
Books as Art
This interactive presentation is intended for teen and/or adult audience. We will discuss books: the printed book format and its future in our digital world, book conservation and views about what the future holds for books and libraries. We will look at artists who use discarded books in their artworks (installation, sculpture, photography, journal, and altered books...). Institutions can chose to add a hands-on component to the presentation, where participants will be creating art objects from old books.
The presentation is an hour long.
The book creation is an extra hour or two.

REDUCE, REUSE, UPCYCLE!
Upcycling is new term which means to give a new purpose to discarded items. We focus on using items that can be found in a library, at low or no cost. This hands-on workshop is geared toward teen and adult library staff. It is usually a day-long workshop, but can be shorten to half a day with more presentations of projects, less hands-on.
A specific upcycling project can be chosen for a public audience (teen or adults) for an hour-long class.
Examples of upcycle classes:
T-shirt (bags, aprons, accessories...), urban gardening, fused plastic creations (wallets, purses, bookmarks...), altered books & magazine art, re-purposed porcelain & ceramic plates... etc.
